31st August 2007- Edinburgh
The second National Conference on Leaving Home and Housing Education took place on the 31st August 2007. The event featured workshops, stalls and presentations from SCSH, Shelter, Alone in London and many others. Delegates had the opportunity to discover new ways of delivering housing education including peer education programmes, drama and multi-media resources.

The SYHN Annual Homing In Conference offers a mix of topical issues for everyone concerned with young people’s housing and the prevention of homelessness. The conference also a has full-day session for young people to express their views on services in a range of creative ways.

Preventing homelessness and sustaining tenancies training sessions took place on 11th Oct Inverness and 19th Oct Edinburgh in 2007. More dates will be available early 2008.

The Scottish Youth Housing Network is holding a consultation event to learn about young parents’ experiences of housing and support. There will be a range of workshops and some fun activities over lunch such as massage, video diary room and the opportunity for parents to get their photo taken with their child.

A half day training session took place on the 6th September which provided an overview of the recent Scottish Council for Single Homeless reports on Rewards for Learning and Service User Involvement. A range of activities were used to help delegates assess and review how they recognise learning in young people and how they involve service users. This training is suitable for anyone working with young people wishing to explore different ways of involving service users and recognising skills in young people.

SCSH organised a one day mini-conference on Homelessness and Mediation which took place in Edinburgh on Friday 15th June 2007. The event brought together existing mediation projects from across Scotland, national players such as Family Mediation Scotland and SACRO as well as homelessness specialists to share ideas about mediation and discuss its role in homelessness prevention. This event took place on Thursday 23rd November 2007 - a joint event with Scottish Churches Housing Action on how to set up and develop Starter Pack schemes.
