Staff at the Scottish Council for Single Homeless have finally returned to their offices in the Cowgate after being made homeless by the major fire in Edinburgh on 7 th December.
Although the charity's offices were undamaged, Council Safety Officers refused entry until demolition work had been carried out. SCSH staff re-located to temporary office space and have attempted to maintain services to members as best they could.
Communications Co-ordinator, Tom Roberts, comments:
"We are delighted to be back in our Cowgate offices. Our staff have worked very hard to maintain a normal service but have faced a great many challenges.
There is certainly something ironic about a homeless charity being homeless itself but we have actually been quite lucky. The difficulties faced by SCSH are nothing compared to those faced by the businesses whose premises were destroyed."
