With significant increases in youth unemployment, changes to welfare benefits and continuing pressures on housing, finding ways of preventing youth homelessness has never been more important.
Taking a strongly practice-focused approach, this conference looks to help workers consider ways of joining up services, sharing practice and look at a wide range of different ways of working with young people to prevent youth homelessness.
Why “everything but the house”? Well, not everyone can influence the actions of housing providers, but everyone working with young people can influence their chances of having successful, settled futures.
Workshops to be confirmed, but will include work in areas such as : criminal justice, throughcare and aftercare, housing information and advice, leaving home and housing education, peer education, mediation, sexual health, financial inclusion, employability, and tenancy sustainment.
Prices are only £75 for SCSH members and £90 for non-members.

SCSH is holding two consultation and information events on current issues in housing.
Housing: Fresh Thinking, New Ideas - 10am to 12.30pm - will give a briefing on the Government consultation paper and seeks your contribution to our response to the many issues it raises. The main focus of the session will be on relating the questions to homelessness prevention and sustainable solutions.
Scottish Social Housing Charter - 1.30pm to 4pm - The Charter will have a fundamental effect on the priorities of social landlords, and who is housed by them in the medium term.
Both events will begin with a briefing on the topic followed by structured discussion.
In order to cover costs, there will be a charge of £10 for each session, or £15 for both sessions.

This year’s National Homelessness Conference offered the chance to take stock of what has been achieved, what works well, and what still needs to be done. It offered an ideal opportunity to learn about policy and practice at home and abroad, share ideas and galvanise the momentum needed to keep Scotland’s homelessness strategy on track.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Thought provoking - clearly a lot of work for us to do!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Using the GIRFEC model with young people would appear to be best practice - I will take this forward\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
