6th September 2007, 9.30am-12.30pm, Edinburgh
A half day training session took place on the 6th September which provided an overview of the recent Scottish Council for Single Homeless reports on Rewards for Learning and Service User Involvement. A range of activities were used to help delegates assess and review how they recognise learning in young people and how they involve service users. This training is suitable for anyone working with young people wishing to explore different ways of involving service users and recognising skills in young people. ‘Rewards for Learning’ was launched in June 2007 and provides a snapshot of how Scottish housing services recognise skills in young people, what methods they are using to do this, and what the barriers to rewarding learning are. The report provides a directory of methods for recognising skills ranging from awards and accreditation programmes to informal methods. The ‘Service User Involvement’ survey, completed in 2006, looks at the different kinds of service user involvement activity and the extent of such activity in youth housing services across Scotland . The report sets out a straightforward mapping tool – adapted from Arnstein’s well-known ladder of participation - which can be used by youth housing support projects to assess the service user involvement taking place within their own organisation. A copy of each report is included in the training price of £50 per delegate. For further information, download a booking form. Please direct any queries to Wendy Devall (contact us) |
